Facing and overcoming your fears can be terrifying. But luckily, Dr. Brené
Brown and Netflix are here to help you find the courage to live your best life.

The Gifts of Imperfection author has joined forces with the streaming giant for a new special called Brené Brown: The Call to Courage. The hour-long empowering discussion was filmed in front of a live audience in Royce Hall at the University of California (UCLA), and it's set to be released on Netflix on April 19.

You can expect the University of Houston research professor to dish out the same advice on embracing your sensitivity and shame that she did in her now-viral 2010 TEDx Houston talk, The Power of Vulnerability. Nine years later, Dr. Brown's renowned TED talk remains one of the top five most-viewed TED talks in the world, with over 38 million views. On Netflix, Dr. Brown will reflect on the positive reception and feedback she received from her TED talk, as well as the insight she's gained since it was released to the public.

Featuring inspirational stories and Dr. Brown's signature humor, The Call to Courage is about dispelling the myth that you can't at once be both courageous and vulnerable. Dr. Brown challenges the audience to be bold and step fearlessly into uncertainty and the unknown.

Dr. Brown has spent the past 20 years studying vulnerability, worthiness, leadership, and empathy, and is the author of five best-selling books: The Gifts of Imperfection, Daring Greatly, Rising Strong, Braving the Wilderness, and her latest, Dare to Lead.

She's also chatted about her research during several interviews with Oprah and appearances on Oprah's Super Soul Conversations, where she's discussed everything from moving past failure, cultivating joy even when it's scary, learning how to trust, and finding the strength to rise again.

Soon, you'll be able to binge-watch her life-changing advice on Netflix in April. Check back soon for our review of the special!

The transplanted Southerner turned ambitious New Yorker lives her best life by listening to hip-hop and Pod Save America, watching The Office on repeat, quoting Oprah-isms, eating dessert before dinner, and avoiding avocado. Seriously, she doesn’t get the hype.
