80-year-old man shot by stray bullet in the Bronx

An 80-year-old man was shot by a stray bullet while walking with his wife on a Bronx street Monday afternoon, police and sources said.

The victim was struck in the buttocks near the intersection of East 174th Street and Vyse Street in the East Morrisania neighborhood at about 4:45 p.m., according to police. 

The elderly man was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening, cops said. 

Police sources said a male suspect was aiming at an intended target, but instead shot the innocent bystander.

No arrests were made as of late Monday, according to police.
