Alpharetta Man Involved With Capitol Riot Has Died

ALPHARETTA, GA — An Alpharetta man has died, police said, just a few days after returning from participating in the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner said Tuesday that Christopher Stanton Georgia, 53, of Alpharetta died on Saturday due to suicide.

An Alpharetta Public Safety Department report obtained by 11Alive states Georgia died at his home. Officers took two rifles from the home, and listed his death as "under investigation," the TV station reported.

The Alpharetta man was one of four people from the state of Georgia who were arrested for either being involved at the U.S. Capitol riot, or for making threats.

Documents from the Superior Court of DC alleged Georgia was charged with attempting to enter the U.S. Capitol Grounds, "against the will of the United States Capitol Police." He was also charged with violating the District-wide 6 p.m. curfew.
