Despite not having a first round pick, the Winnipeg Jets added six young prospects to their organization on Saturday at the 2018 National Hockey League Entry Draft in Dallas.

The Jets selected forward David Gustafsson in the second round, 60th overall. The 18-year-old played for HV71 of the Swedish Hockey League last season. He also won a bronze medal with Sweden at the 2018 U18 World Championship.

The Jets grabbed another forward in the third round, picking American Nathan Smith 91st overall. The 19-year-old led the USHL’s Cedar Rapids Rough Riders in scoring last season with 47 points in 51 games. Smith will play with the Minnesota State Mavericks of the NCAA next season.

From there, the Jets drafted two defencemen from the Ontario Hockey League in the fifth round — Declan Chisholm of the Peterborough Petes and Giovanni Vallati of the Kitchener Rangers. The team also selected goaltender and Minnesota native Jared Moe in the sixth round and forward Austin Wong in the seventh round.
