LI Supermarket Announces Discount For Trump Supporters

OAKDALE, NY — A Long Island grocery store has announced a unique promotion: a 20 percent discount for supporters of President Donald Trump.

Fresh Food Supermarket, located on 871 Montauk Highway, posted an advertisement on its Facebook page Wednesday night announcing the discount.

According to the ad, customers can get the discount, which excludes beer, by mentioning at the cash register that they are a Trump supporter.

The store's Facebook post drew many comments, including some from unhappy customers.

"Disgraceful," one man wrote. "I go into this store almost every day but I will never step foot into it again. I hope people boycott this place until it goes out of business. I sure will."

After the uproar, store owner Jose Colon, a Trump supporter, told Newsday he will also give a discount to those who support Joe Biden.

Colon defended the Trump ad.

"We live in a free country and we have freedom of speech," Colon told ABC 7.

On Thursday, the supermarket posted another ad announcing that all law enforcement, fire, EMS, doctors, nurses, health care staff, health department officials, senior citizens and truck drivers eat free until further notice. Proper identification must be shown.
