#GordDowniesCanada: Beautiful pictures of Canada trend for Tragically Hip singer

Two weeks after The Tragically Hip wrapped the Man Machine Poem tour, Canada is still sending an outpouring of love to lead singer Gord Downie.

Starting on Wednesday night – and continuing into Thursday – one of Twitter’s trending hashtags has been #GordDowniesCanada.

Each tweet features a beautiful shot of Canada, including sunsets, forest landscapes and other snapshots of the country’s beauty. (Downie and The Hip are known for referencing Canadian locales in much of their music.)

It was announced on Wednesday that every single Hip album — all 17 of them, spanning three decades — is currently appearing on the Canadian Billboard chart. The band is surging in popularity from coast-to-coast after Downie’s May announcement that he has terminal brain cancer.
