Democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who holds progressive stances on income inequality, charged as much as $2,700 for tickets at a fundraising event in San Francisco on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old held two events in San Francisco’s Mission District, one at 7 p.m. that sold tickets between $500 and $2,700 and another at 7:30 pm. The second event was sold out and moved to a larger venue to accommodate for 400 to 500 people, according to SFGate.

Ocasio-Cortez has been touring the country since her unexpected win against 10-term incumbent Joe Crowley in New York’s 14th congressional district on June 26.

Co-chair of San Francisco’s Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) chapter Shandi Singh said nobody would be turned away if they could not afford the event, though attendees were encouraged to donate, SFGate reported.

The socialist darling is a staunch supporter of single-payer healthcare, $15 minimum wage, and making public colleges tuition-free among many other radical ideas that would be funded by increasing taxes on corporations and high-income Americans, according to her campaign web page. She is also a dues paying member for DSA, an organization that disavows capitalism. (RELATED: George Soros’s Media Network Worked To Help Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Win Primary)

“The democratic socialist vision does not rest upon one sole tradition; it draws upon Marxism, religious and ethical socialism, feminism, and other theories that critique human domination,” the DSA website said.

Ocasio-Cortez could be the youngest woman elected to Congress if she ousts Republican candidate Anthony Pappas in the November 2018 general election, SFGate reported.
