New ‘House Of The Dragon’ Trailer Sets The Stage For War

Following

HBO has just released a new trailer for the highly-anticipated Game Of Thrones prequel show House Of The Dragon.

The new show drops its first episode this Sunday at 9pm ET on HBO and HBO Max, and for the first time since 2019 fans can return to Westeros and the Seven Kingdoms, though in an entirely different era.

The new trailer is action-packed, filled with fire-breathing dragons, war-ships and heavily armored knights swinging swords and charging on horseback. Kings and princesses move about the halls of power, as scheming every bit as vicious as any battlefield is carried out in the shadows.

Here’s the trailer:

“The gods have yet to make a man who lacks the patience for absolute power, Your Grace,” we hear Otto Hightower, the Hand of King Viserys I Targaryen, say ominously. And the only way to gain absolute power is with fire and blood—or as a masterful player of the game of thrones.

House Of The Dragon is the story of the Targaryen dynasty and the succession of kings hundreds of years before Jon Snow or Daenerys were even born. This is less a show about magical demons from beyond the Wall or prophecies of Chosen Ones, and more about the intrigue and skullduggery of court.

HBO is dropping new episodes of House Of The Dragon every Sunday for ten weeks, and I’ll be reviewing each one here at this blog. I’m definitely excited, even though I know this will be a very different show from its predecessor. Still, I miss visiting Westeros and I miss writing about it, and I’m ever so happy to return.
