EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders star Charlie Brooks has opened up about filming a scary car crash scene with Kellie Bright and teased how it will impact her character in the weeks to come.

Brooks plays Janine Butcher on the BBC soap and there's been no shortage of tension between Janine and Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) in recent weeks as Janine has embarked on a relationship with Linda's ex Mick (Danny Dyer).

Although Janine recently tried to bribe Linda into leaving Walford, Linda instead decided to keep the money and stick around – not knowing that Janine had scammed Linda's own daughter Nancy for the £50k payoff.

Linda ultimately figured out Janine's devious antics, but Brooks confirmed that Janine will stop at nothing to salvage her romance with Mick and prevent the truth about her money scheme from coming out.

As the tensions between the two continue, this week's episodes see Janine and Linda caught up in a shock car accident that leaves Linda gravely injured while Janine wastes no time showing her true colours once again...

Speaking about the upcoming scenes, Charlie Brooks explained that it all comes about when Janine answers a phone call to the Vic and learns it's Linda, who's trying to get hold of Mick.

"She can tell that Linda is drunk," Charlie continued. "Janine can tell that the only way to stop the truth from coming out is to try and get into Linda's head and to stop her any way she can. She gets into a taxi, forgets all of her plans with Scarlett and then heads straight to where Linda is.

"She sees that Linda was about to drive the car, and so Janine drives. I suppose the question is – had they not crashed, which was an accident, what would Janine's next move have been? I find that quite interesting.

"In her desperate attempt to stop Linda, Janine loses concentration on the road and crashes into a tree."

Brooks also teased "huge complications" ahead for Janine following the car accident.

"Everything is complicated with Janine. She does not go with the flow of life, she really is swimming against the stream," the actress said. "There will be huge complications and you will see Janine in huge desperation trying to do whatever she can to keep her man."

And as for how far Janine will go to get what she wants, Charlie teased that there really is no limit for Janine.

"I don't think there is any end to how far Janine will go," she noted. "What she feels for Mick is real, he makes her feel safe and protected. And this is her one opportunity at having her family, and the perfect dream family that she's longed for, for so long.

"The second Linda comes back onto the Square she feels threatened, that's when we see Janine being the Janine that everyone loves to hate. You think how far is she gonna go? I think she will go as far as she can in order to prevent the truth coming out."

EastEnders airs these scenes in the week commencing Monday, June 6 at 7.30pm on BBC One.
