Alexandria City High School Evacuated Again After Student Dismissal

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria City High School was evacuated for a second day in a row, this time after students left on Thursday.

A bomb threat prompted the evacuation at 2:25 p.m. Thursday at the high school's King Street Campus. Students had been dismissed at 1:15 p.m. for scheduled parent-teacher conferences. The evacuation applied to remaining staff, students and families in the building.

Parent-teacher conferences at the high school's King Street campus will be rescheduled. Athletic events at away locations will go on as scheduled.

Alexandria Police Department and Alexandria Fire Department responded to the school for an investigation.

The evacuation followed Wednesday's secure the building status at both high school campuses and evacuation at the King Street campus. Students had been evacuated due to a bomb threat received by Alexandria City Public Schools.

Executive Principal Peter Balas told families in an update Wednesday night there appeared to be no "immediate credibility to Wednesday's threat, which prompted the return to normal operations Thursday.

It was unclear if the bomb threats on both days were related.
