VIENNA, VA — At this time last year, Vienna Inn was celebrating its 60th anniversary. Little did the staff know, they'd be presented with new challenges with COVID-19 restrictions starting just over a month later.

This month, the Vienna mainstay will celebrate its 61th anniversary and show appreciation for customers and the community. The restaurant dates back to 1960, and little has changed in the way of the vintage interior, famous chili dogs, and support for the community.

"To say it’s been a challenging year for restaurant owners is an understatement," said owner Marty Volk in a statement. "We are thankful to have made it to this milestone and appreciate the support of our customers and Vienna Inn staff."

Before the pandemic, the Vienna Inn would often be backed with families, sports teams, coworkers and friends. Even as Vienna Inn adjusts its dining room and operations to the pandemic, it remains a place of community. Since the pandemic began, Vienna Inn customers have purchased 2,817 meals for first responders, front-line workers and food insecure families in the area.

To mark the 61st anniversary, Vienna Inn is hoping to achieve a new goal with a 1960 meal challenge. The restaurant hopes to provide 1960 meals for front-line workers and first responders by the end of February. Meals are $10 plus tax and can be purchased in person at the register, over the phone, or online.

In addition to the meal challenge, Vienna Inn will celebrate its anniversary with Celebrity Guest Dog Tenders cooking the famous chili dogs, starting with Vienna Mayor Linda Colbert on Feb. 16 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. A portion of proceeds from chili dogs will be donated to charity. Other festivities include drink and food specials ending in .61, National Chili Day promotions, Kid’s Nights featuring Special Menus for carryout, and a 61st Anniversary commemorative gift.
