New Yorkers may get a rare glimpse of the northern lights this week.
The National Weather Service said Wednesday a solar storm could make the northern lights, also known as the aurora borealis, visible to curious spectators in New York state Thursday night.
A photo shared by the agency on Twitter shows the light show could possibly be seen upstate, but not in New York City.
Sky watchers in other northern states — Maine, Montana and Washington — might also be able to views the lights.
