Swiss ultrarunner Andrea Huser, aged 46, has died after slipping and falling on a training run. According to Police, Huser fell 140m when crossing a stream.

According to local newspaper '20 Minuten', a missing-person report was filed to police in Bern, Switzerland on Saturday, after Huser failed to return from training. With the help of the police, a wide-ranging search took place on Sunday, with search dogs used to hunt for the missing runner. On Sunday afternoon, Huser's body was found above Saas-Fee in the Oberi Schopfen area.

Huser was an experienced ultrarunner, competing at elite level for the past two decades. In December 2017, she won the 162km Ultra-Trail Tai Mo Shan in Hong Kong. She also won the Ultra Trail World Tour in the same year. Before this, Huser competed as a world class mountain biker.

Runners from all over the world have been leaving tributes to Huser. Killian Jornet tweeted, 'So sad to hear that Andrea Huser passed away. She was an extraordinary ultrarunner, some seasons she literally run everything, linking ultras every week. We’ll miss you Andrea. My condolences to the family and friends'
