UPDATE: June 18, 2019, 1:40 p.m. EDT Google say it's restored Calendar service. The original story follows below.

You're not imagining things: Google Calendar is down.

Instead of seeing their wonderful meeting-packed schedules, users visiting Google Calendar on Tuesday were greeted with error messages.

Judging by the many comments on the Google page at Down Detector (which is owned by Mashable’s parent company, Ziff Davis), the Calendar outage appears to be impacting users worldwide; the service is reportedly not working in parts of North America, South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

The issue also seems to only affect Google Calendar on the web. The Google Calendar app for iOS and Android as well as some third-party mobile apps such as Microsoft Outlook, which can import Google Calendar data, appear to be working properly. At the time of this writing, Google Calendars is not syncing with iOS's Calendar app.

Reached for comment on the service disruption, Google pointed us to its G Suite Status Dashboard website. As of 10:22 a.m. ET, the description for Google Calendar's status reads:

"We're investigating reports of an issue with Google Calendar. We will provide more information shortly. The affected users are unable to access Google Calendar."

Google's Calendar outage comes hot on the heels of a report from Wired that exposed how bad actors are exploiting a calendar setting to place event invites in another person's calendar and essentially scam unsuspecting users into entering personal and financial information.

We experienced the common "Not Found Error 404" message, but other users received a "500. That's an Error" message.

No longer shackled to their calendars, some people expressed joy:

Many people rely on Google Calendar to provide structure to their lives — a way to tame the chaotic activities around us. Without a grid of events, some users are feeling totally lost:

As with all service outages — they seem to be more frequent than ever before — it's unclear what the cause is. Patiently waiting until it's back up is the only thing you can do...

Or if you really must get your Calendar fix, use the mobile app. It should be working!
