Masked Connecticut teen charged with stabbing ‘stranger’ in Westport

A masked Connecticut teen tried to stab a stranger to death in her own car in posh Westport — apparently picking her at random, according to police.

Ellis Tibere, 18, was busted soon after fleeing Monday’s attack on a 33-year-old woman from Greenwich that left her hospitalized with “serious injuries” from multiple stab wounds, Westport police said.

The unidentified victim had been sitting in her car outside a Westport beauty spa waiting for an appointment when her car door was yanked open by a masked man brandishing a knife, cops said.

“The victim attempted to kick the suspect in self-defense at which time he inflicted multiple stab wounds to her leg,” police said in a statement on Facebook.

The Guilford teen fled in his car, which is registered to his mother, but was soon pulled over by a Westport officer and complied as he was arrested, police said. He had a mask and knife on him when arrested, according to the report.

“Based on interviews conducted with Tibere, it appears the victim and location were chosen at random,” the statement said.

The teen said he had waited more than three hours before attacking — and only stopped when a man came out of the New Beauty Wellness spa, according to a police report obtained by The Hour.

The victim lost a “significant amount of blood” and was helped by horrified witnesses who raced over and held towels on her wounds to try to stop the bleeding, the report said.

Tibere was charged with criminal attempt at murder, first-degree assault and possession of a deadly weapon.

The Guilford High School senior appeared in Norwalk Superior Court on Tuesday where his mother, New York native Denise Paley, held back tears as he was ordered held on $1 million bond, The Hour said.

“We love you,” she mouthed as her son turned around for one last glance while being led back to jail, the site said.

Judge William Wenzel also recommended the teen be placed on suicide watch, approving his attorney’s request for a competency evaluation.

“I am strongly concerned for my client,” attorney Wesley Mead told the court, according to the report. The case was transferred to Stamford Superior Court where Tibere is scheduled to appear on Jan. 21.

“We are bewildered by this incident, as is everyone else who knows Ellis,” Mead’s family told The Post via the attorney.

“Our hearts go out to the victim. We hope that she has a speedy recovery and are deeply saddened that this happened to her.”
