All aboard the Jungle Cruise. Disney’s live-action adaptation of the theme park ride is headed to Disney+ Premier Access this summer, star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson announced on Instagram today. Though the film’s original release date was slated for last July, the pandemic pushed it over to this year, also granting it a streaming debut on Disney’s platform. Now, Jungle Cruise will release in theaters and on Disney+ Premier Access on July 30.

“It’s a pleasure to say WE’RE BACK IN THEATERS!” Johnson wrote in the caption of a video announcing the news. “And it’s a pleasure to say, WE WILL ALSO COME TO YOU!”

Jungle Cruise follows other Disney new releases like MulanRaya and the Last Dragon, and the upcoming Cruella and Black Widow that have warranted a Disney+ Premier Access Release. In order to watch the film at home, Disney+ subscribers must pay a one-time fee of $29.99 per movie. Then, they gain unlimited access to the newly released theatrical film. Around three months after their Premier Access release, these new films are usually added to Disney+ at no added cost.

“The most important thing with our movie was ALWAYS to take care of families around the world by giving you options to watch it,” Johnson wrote in his post. “Audience first.”

Jungle Cruise is inspired by the famous Disneyland ride, following skipper Frank Wolff (Johnson) and researcher Dr. Lily Houghton (Emily Blunt) as they trek down the Amazon. Determined to find an ancient tree with healing abilities, Lily and Frank battle the supernatural forces of the Amazon. Jaume Collet-Sera directed Jungle Cruise, with Johnson also serving as an executive producer on the project.
