Gaetz and Greene promise more of Trump’s ‘America First,’ call him ‘undisputed leader’ of GOP at rally

.

Republican Reps. Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene will continue to advocate for former President Donald Trump and his “America First” agenda, the duo said during a rally in Florida.

“‘America First’ isn’t going away. We’re going on tour!” Gaetz told a group of his supporters during an event in his home state of Florida, referencing the former president’s 2020 campaign slogan.

During the event at the Villages, he and Greene praised Trump’s accomplishments and even went as far as to call him the legitimate winner of the 2020 presidential election and the “undisputed leader” of the Republican Party.

“Tell me who’s your president?!” Greene asked as the crowd yelled back the former president’s name.

The duo used the event to describe themselves as “proud American patriots” who will be the standard-bearers for Trump’s brand of conservatism and defenders of the Second Amendment.

“We have a right to bear arms in this country, and we will use it!” Gaetz said. “The Second Amendment … is about maintaining within the citizenry the ability to maintain an armed rebellion against the tyrannical government. People may not like that. It might not be politically correct. But that is the truth.”

The two Republicans also mocked legacy media outlets and “fake news” before turning their attention to their colleagues in both political parties. They criticized Democratic “wokeness” and RINOs (“Republicans in Name Only”) who opposed Trump.

“It’s the establishment against the rest of us,” Gaetz declared, specifically naming Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney, who voted to impeach the former president.

“If Liz Cheney could even find Wyoming on a map and get there, she would find a lot of very angry cowboys,” he added.

Greene similarly described herself as a political outsider who is inspired by Trump and “liked what he had to say.”

Being a member of Congress is “a dirty rotten job, I’ll tell you that much,” she added — pointing to Trump as her reason to stay in office.

The congresswoman also called for President Joe Biden to be impeached over his son’s international relationships and continued business dealings.

Gaetz concluded his remarks by encouraging Trump supporters to continue supporting the former president.

“This is not a movement for the timid or the tired. This is a movement about winning — winning so much that we get tired of it,” he said, echoing comments that the former president made in his initial presidential campaign. “After all, isn’t that what we were promised?”

There is growing speculation that Trump will launch a bid for the 2024 presidential election in a prospective rematch with Biden, who has already confirmed that he will run for a second term.
