Man Sought In Two Attempted Child Luring Incidents In Oak Lawn

Police are looking into two attempted child-luring incidents that occurred moments apart in Oak Lawn on Feb. 22.

OAK LAWN, IL -- A man pestered two young girls in separate incidents on Friday afternoon while they were walking home from school. There was no physical contact and in both instances, the man was scared off by adults, Oak Lawn police said.

The first incident happened at approximately 3:30 p.m. in the 9500 block of S. Marion Ave. A white male, possibly Hispanic, approached the girl and started asking her name. He told told her he wanted to get to know her. Moments later, in the 5300 block of West 91st Place, the same man approached the second girl. He, too, asked her name and said he wanted to get to know her.

Division Chief Ross Finnelly, of the Oak Lawn Police Department, said that a Good Samaritan noticed the man talking to one of the girls and asked if he was bothering her. The man quickly left. The other girl was walking up the driveway to her house when her mother came out, and the man scurried away. Both girls, ages 14 and 15, were students at Oak Lawn Community High School.

The man is white or Hispanic, in his mid-twenties, about 5-feet-9-inches tall, with a slim build. He had short black hair, and close-cropped black beard. Police said the man was driving a 2000-2004 silver Cadillac DeVille with tinted rear windows. Oak Lawn police are asking that anyone with any information please contact them at 708-422-8292.
