Lazio players paid tribute to their late player Daniel Guerini by wearing commemorative shirts during the warm-up of their game against Spezia on Saturday after the youth star was killed in a car crash in Rome aged just 19

The teenager, who had previously played in the Fiorentina, Torino and SPAL academies and had represented Italy at Under-15 and Under-16 level, died in the collision on March 24.

The Rome-based club revealed that the club's players would wear a special jersey which read 'Ciao Guero' to remember Guerini, along with a photo of him pointing to the club's crest upon his return to Le Aquile.

'The team, during the warm-up, will wear a special shirt in memory of Daniel Guerini,' a club tweet read.

'The club will also honour the memory of the young Lazio youth-team player in other ways.'

Lazio, who won the game 2-1, said on social media at the time of his death: 'Still incredulous and shocked by pain, the President, the men and women of the Lazio Sports Club gather around the family of the young Daniel Guerini.'

Guerini's former clubs also paid tribute, as did the likes of AC Milan, Atalanta and Serie A leaders Inter.

Guerini left Lazio on a permanent basis in 2016 to join Torino's academy, before a couple of loan spells at Fiorentina followed.

Guerini's funeral took place on April 1, where the club's anthem Vola Lazio Vola was sung outside the church where he was laid to rest.

The funeral was attended by Lazio owner Claudio Lotito, head coach Simone Inzaghi, some first-team players and all Guerini's former Primavera (Lazio youth) team-mates.
