Electric cars are becoming increasingly omnipresent. From Ford to Mitsubishi, there are tons of reasons to get in on the trend as climate change becomes more and more apparent—and inevitable.

One area of motorized transport that hasn’t really made the switch, though, would definitely have to be trailers. Well, until now. Although it’s not for sale—at least not yet—the Dethleffs e.home concept is something we’ll be having our eyes on for quite a while.

The German company isn’t pulling any punches in its eco-friendly design. Not only is the trailer entirely electric, it’s wrapped entirely in flashy solar panels that power it.

The 80-kilowatt motor has a battery pack that can go up to 174 miles on a single charge—not exactly a short distance by any measure. (Though, we will note, that’s without all the incredible amenities on the inside weighing it down.) The battery is good for up to 15,000 charges, lasting around 155,000 miles of travel. That’s a lotta road.

And the inside is just that: incredible. They packed so much into this concept without making it feel cramped at all. In sum, you get: all the electric appliances you could need, dedicated sleeping areas, a luxe bathroom, a roomy kitchen, and more. Everything—right down to the heating system, which incorporates infrared elements into the floor and furniture—is built with efficiency in mind.

But it doesn’t end there. The e.home is “smart” in every way a trailer can be. It features a Mobileye monitoring system for driver assistance and a smartphone app that lets you control the e.home remotely.

It’s hard to imagine anything more modern and eco-friendly than this e.home concept. Unfortunately, for the moment, it is just that: a concept. Regardless, we believe you’re looking at the future of mobile homes. It’s just the only responsible way to go about it.
