U.S. Presidential Scholar honors go to Springport student

SPRINGPORT, MI - A recent Springport High School graduate is being honored as a 2018 U.S. Presidential Scholar.

Caitlin Henne joins 161 seniors this year from throughout the country being recognized in Washington, D.C. June 24-26.

Henne is an active member in Springport's Future Farmers of America program.

Presidential Scholars are chosen based on academic excellence, artistic talent, essays, school evaluations and transcripts, community service and leadership. The program began in 1964.

This year's honorees were chosen from 5,200 qualified candidates chosen from the 3.6 million students expected to graduate from high school in 2018.
