RRVAN family picnic July 25 for those with autism spectrum disorder

InForum News Brief FSA

FARGO — The Red River Valley Asperger-Autism Network (RRVAN) will have its annual family picnic from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 25 at the Rotary shelter in Lindenwood Park, 1905 Roger Maris Drive. The picnic is open to all families and friends of those with autism spectrum disorder.

Representatives from first responders in Fargo will give tours of their vehicles so children can become familiar with them before a crisis.

The FM Rock Club will talk about natural treasures in the area.

Representatives from FM Fencing will give a demonstration. Research has found that the mask and suit used in fencing is a comfort and security to those with ASD, and fencing is a potentially good fit for many.

There will also be games, face painting, door prizes and gift bags for the kids.
