What to Watch on Amazon Prime Video in April 2024

Step into the wasteland with Fallout, watch weekly soccer, and more on Amazon's streaming service this month

Updated March 29, 2024
Fallout Prime Video Series Fallout (Prime Video)

Amazon is set to make a big splash on Prime Video this month with the release of its much-anticipated Fallout series. Even if that doesn't tickle your fancy, the service has a ton of other new content dropping in April, including dozens of critically acclaimed movies, Friday night games from the National Women's Soccer League, a new season of Them, and much more. Here are our choices for the best of the month on Prime Video and Freevee.

Fallout (Apr. 11)

Video game adaptations are hitting the streaming services with the force of an atomic bomb, and we're quite curious as to how Prime Video is going to capture the unique tone of Fallout, the legendary post-apocalyptic franchise about vault dwellers let out into the wasteland to kill mutants, betray each other amusingly and go slowly insane. Walton Goggins is in it so that's a point in its favor right off the bat.

Them: The Scare (Apr. 35)

The second season of this horror anthology looks solid. Set in Los Angeles in 1991, it stars Deborah Ayorinde as homicide detective Dawn Reeve, who gets assigned to investigate a grisly murder of a foster mother and has to contend with a city on the brink of chaos following the on-camera beating of Rodney King by a group of police officers. The first season did a spectacular job blending social issues with scares, and we're expecting the same from the follow-up.

The Holdovers (Apr. 29)

Alexander Payne's 2023 film is in the spotlight for accused plagiarism, which is too bad because it's really solid with a great lead performance by Paul Giamatti. He plays a teacher at a New England boarding school who is forced to stay on campus to supervise five students that aren't going home over the holiday break. It was nominated for and won multiple awards, including an Oscar nom for Best Picture.
