KitchenAid's New Cold Brew Coffee Maker Is Saving My Life RN

Cold brew is cool. But the gear used to brew it hardly qualifies—until now.

If you're anything like me, you go through the morning on autopilot until you get that first cup of coffee. And when hot weather hits, cold brew coffee is the only way to go. But making cold brew at home is a bit of a hassle. You need one device to brew it in, a separate receptacle to strain it into, possibly another to serve it out of—plus finding a filter that doesn't take eons to fully strain is a near impossibility.

But, earlier this summer, KitchenAid, that beloved brand, released a new Cold Brew Coffee Maker that's charmed me so thoroughly I've changed the layout of my fridge to accommodate it. The yogurt, hummus, and other spreadables have been relegated to the bottom shelf to make room, front-and-center, right next to my PUR water filter, for this veritable shrine to my daily addiction.

What's so fab about it? First: just look at how cute and compact it is (Dimensions: a mere 8x6.9x7 inches):

For the record, this is not my refrigerator. I do not keep open bowls of sliced lemon and a pitcher of milk idly by.

Second: It's a brewer, filter, and serving device all in one. To make cold brew coffee (or tea) you just fill the finely perforated filter insert with grounds (or tea leaves) and then cover them with water. After steeping to your satisfaction, you pull out the filter and position it on top of the device to drain fully. After composting the spent coffee grounds, you can just place the rinsed filter back into the full coffee maker—no extra room for storage needed. To serve, just use the dispenser right up front. And bonus: it looks pretty elegant, as far as coffee dispensers go. I would have no problem setting this out on a coffee bar for brunch guests to serve themselves.

Not a year-round cold-brew drinker? You still need this device. I plan on using mine well into the holidays to infuse sangria and serve all manner of punch. But for the moment, I'm happily caffeinated and mercifully cool and will remain so until summer finally comes to an end.
