Liverpool have been handed another potential injury blow after Andy Robertson hobbled off during Scotland's 2-0 win over Denmark at Hampden Park.

Steve Clarke's side secured a huge victory over the Danes with confidence now sky high heading into their crucial World Cup play-off in four months.

However, Liverpool face an anxious wait over the fitness of star left back Robertson, after the 27-year-old suffered a suspected hamstring injury during the sensational victory on Monday night.

The Scotland captain fell to the turf on the 79th minute and was unable to complete the full 90 minutes. Nottingham Forest star Scott McKenna replaced the defender.

Robertson made no mention of the knock after the game, tweeting: 'What a night at Hampden, strong finish to the campaign! Everyone outstanding tonight'.

No official medical update has been provided by Liverpool or Scotland, and boss Jurgen Klopp will hope that Robertson's name will not be added to a growing list of injuries at Anfield.

Hamstring injuries have plagued the Reds this season, with Roberto Firmino, Naby Keita and James Milner all suffering similar setbacks this campaign.

Sadio Mane is sidelined with a rib issue picked up while away with Senegal, Henderson withdrew from the England squad with an unspecified injury and Joe Gomez is suffering from a foot injury.

Liverpool return to action on Saturday afternoon as the Premier League title hopefuls host the in-form Arsenal at Anfield.

Robertson's availability would provide a huge boost for Klopp against Mikel Arteta's side, although understudy Kostas Tsimikas has proved an able deputy when called upon this term.

Elsewhere, Harvey Elliott has returned to training just two months after injuring his ankle against Leeds United.

There is no timetable for the 18-year-old's return to action, and Milner has hailed the youngster's mental fortitude since suffering his injury,

'He's been so positive from the start, to be honest,' he said. 'I was talking about mental strength before, as soon as it happened, the things he was saying, he talks like he's been through it all before and he's a 30-odd-year-old player.

'He's incredible. He's got a great mindset, he's done all his work, he's progressing really well.'
