Sheriff: Woman Charged With Murder After Faking Husband's Suicide
Investigators say that results of a GBI autopsy confirmed a gunshot wound to the head was not self-inflicted.
PAULDING COUNTY, GA — A Dallas, Georgia, woman who investigators say killed her husband and tried to make it look like a suicide has been arrested and charged with his murder.
Lacy Jolee Boles, 37, was arrested May 29 without incident in connection with the shooting death of her husband Daniel Akers, 36, just before last Christmas. She was charged with malice murder, murder, aggravated assault, false statements and tampering with evidence, all felonies.
Paulding County Sheriff’s deputies answered a 911 call on Dec. 22 to a house on Braemill Court, where they found Akers dead with a gunshot wound to his head. Boles told them it was a suicide, but investigators noticed what they said were inconsistencies in her story.

The results of Akers’ GBI autopsy — long delayed because of its complexity and because of the COVID-19 pandemic — finally led the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office to charge Boles with his murder.
Boles was released from the Paulding County Jail on June 5 on a $100,000 bond.
