SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — After a four-year absence, the popular Hattie’s Mardi Gras fundraiser is returning later this month.

Featuring CNN’s Alisyn Camerota as emcee and live entertainment by Soul Session and Garland Nelson, the Mardi Gras celebration is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Canfield Casino in Congress Park in Saratoga Springs.

The inaugural Hattie’s Mardi Gras was held in 2001 and since its launch, has donated more than $1 million to nonprofits in the surrounding community.

The Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York will be the event’s 2023 beneficiary.

“Not only will the gala be supporting a great cause, it will also be an evening of delicious dining and dancing,” Business for Good restaurant operator Jasper Alexander said in a press release. “I’ll be working with Chef Phil Fitzpatrick and Chef Mark D. Graham to bring the taste of New Orleans to Saratoga.”

Hattie’s director of hospitality Beth Alexander believes the upcoming event will be the most successful Mardi Gras yet. “Returning this event to the community is such a wonderful feeling,” she said in the release. “With CNN’s Alisyn Camerota as our emcee, it’s going to be a night to remember. We hope all of our regulars can join us for a good time and a great cause.”

Since the last Hattie’s Mardi Gras in 2019, Hattie’s has joined the Business for Good family of companies, and 100% of its profits from all locations are now donated to local charities.

Business for Good cofounders Ed and Lisa Mitzen will serve as the Hattie’s Mardi Gras event hosts. In alignment with Business for Good’s mission of giving back to move forward, Hattie’s Restaurants aim to grow and amplify a community positive business, while maintaining the quality and character of its product, the vision of its present ownership, and the legacy of its founder, Miss Hattie Moseley Austin.

“The Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York’s ongoing fight to alleviate hunger aligns with one of BFG’s top priorities, which is to work to end food insecurity,” Ed Mitzen said in the release. “This upcoming gala will be an opportunity to make a big impact in one evening.”

A silent auction with packages from a variety of local businesses to bid on will also be featured at the event.

Tickets and sponsorship packages for the 2023 Hattie’s Marid Gras are available online at https://give.classy.org/HattiesMardiGras.

Looking ahead, 2023 is set to be a big year for Hattie’s. The company will launch its first Albany location when it takes up residence at the former site of Lombardo’s Restaurant on Madison Avenue.

Currently, Hattie’s cuisine can be enjoyed at the flagship Phila Street restaurant in Saratoga Springs, the Chicken Shack in Wilton Plaza and seasonally at the Saratoga Race Course.
