Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti win Love Island 2022

Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti won Love Island 2022 by a huge landslide in comparison to the other finalists, securing a huge percentage of the final vote.

From Sunday to Monday, fans were able to vote for their favourite couple to go home with the £50,000 prize, which for the first time wasn’t up for a steal.

Ekin-Su and Davide were the favourites to win for days, which came across in the final as they gained 63.69% of the public vote, ITV revealed.

In comparison, runners-up Gemma Owen and Luca Bish scored 14.47% of the final vote.

Meanwhile, Indiyah Polack and Dami Hope, who came third, received 11.77% of the vote, while Tasha Ghouri and Andrew Le Page, who finished in fourth position, received 10.07%. of the vote.

When Ekin-Su and Davide – known affectionately by fans as ‘Ekinde’ – were announced as the winners, the couple couldn’t believe it, with Ekin-Su breaking down in tears as she threw her arms around her partner.

After catching their breath, the couple shared a video message for their supporters, thanking everyone who’s followed their rollercoaster journey over the past couple of months.

Ekin-Su said: ‘Thank you everyone for voting [for] us and thank you for making us who we are.’

Chiming in, Davide added: ‘I didn’t expect it. I still don’t believe it.’

‘I can’t believe it,’ Ekin-Su continued. ‘I think everyone’s winners in here and I just feel really lucky to be here.’

Davide showered the other finalists with praise, saying: ‘We’re all four great couples but yeah thank you for everyone.’

Signing off, Ekin-Su concluded: ‘Thank you for everyone for going on our journey with us, it means so much, so much.’

A record number of people tuned in to watch the final, with 3.4million people witnessing Ekin-Su and Davide take the title, ITV confirmed.

The viewing figure was the most successful for Love Island in the past four years, marking the biggest finale for the programme since 2019.
