A 60-year-old man detained in Stourbridge High Street is one of dozens of suspects in custody today.

The man was stopped yesterday (Monday April 21) in connection with theft from a vehicle. 

He is one of the 35 people in police cells as West Midlands Police investigate crimes around Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton.

These range from burglary and assault to possessing drugs and theft.

The other suspects in custody include a 17-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of burglary after a break-in in Smethwick earlier today.

A woman, aged 19, and a 31-year-old man, who were arrested on suspicion of shop theft in Walsall town centre yesterday.

And a 63-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage in Wolverhampton city centre.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We've dozens of crime suspects in custody today as we deal with offences across the Black Country.

"Our teams are working 24/7, every day of the year, to keep you safe and arrest those believed to be linked to crime."
