Netflix appears to have accidentally leaked unaired footage from The Sandman.

The streaming platform’s adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s beloved graphic novel launched just over a week ago, with 10 episodes dropping all in one go.

It looks like there’s more in the pipeline after an episode of I Like To Watch – a drag queen reaction show – on the Still Watching Netflix YouTube channel.

In an ep which has since been made private, queens Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamolodchikova broke down The Sandman and this is where things get interesting.

The duo end up commenting on scenes that didn’t feature in season one, which feature huge CGI cats using humans as their small playthings, which is adapted from A Dream of a Thousand Cats (the 17th issue of the comic).

In another scene, footage of a story called Calliope (issue 18) shows Dream – played in live action by Tom Sturridge – reuniting with a former flame.

It’s not clear exactly what this all means, but showrunner Allan Heinberg recently admitted the team ‘got a little greedy’ and filmed plenty of extra material.

Chatting to Metro.co.uk at The Sandman premiere, he explained: ‘It would have been too long – we got a little greedy in the shooting of it!’

Asked about any specific scenes that were cut, Allan said: ‘Some of them, I think, will be available after we air.

Up Next

‘It’s stuff that’s in the comics – there’s a lot more with the sleepy sickness patients, and Unity Kincaid, and things that pay off down the line. We managed to sneak some bits in later as well.’

Season two is yet to be officially announced, so it remains to be seen how this extra footage will be unveiled, but we can’t wait to find out.

Metro.co.uk has contacted representatives for the show for comment.

The Sandman is available to stream on Netflix.
