Fairfax County Residents Stuff The Bus With 33.6 Tons Of Food

The two-day Stuff the Bus effort was designed to help restock the shelves of local food pantries depleted by the coronavirus pandemic.

RESTON, VA — Fairfax County residents donated 33.6 tons of food as part of the two-day Stuff the Bus food drive. That's nearly one-third of all the food collected over the previous nine years.

The two-day food drive was made possible through a partnership with Fairfax County Department of Neighborhood and Community Services residents and local nonprofit organizations. The effort was designed to restock the shelves of local food pantries, which had been depleted by the coronavirus pandemic.

On Tuesday, a Fastrans bus parked at the Hunter Mill District Supervisor's Office to collect food donations from the public. All of the donations from this site will go to Cornerstones, a Reston-based nonprofit that helping those in need of food, shelter, affordable housing, quality childcare, and other human services.
