Leesburg Restaurant Ranked Among Best Cheap Eats Of 2017

LEESBURG, VA — This bit of news certainly will not come as a shock to many in the area, but Melt Gourmet Cheeseburgers at 525 East Market Street has been mentioned on yet another "best-of" list. This time, it's the Washington Post's "The $20 Diner’s favorite cheap eats of 2017," as compiled by food critic Tim Carman.

Melt was No. 9 on the list of 10 eateries in the Greater Washington area. It was among four from Northern Virginia, three from DC and three from Maryland. Carman determined the top cheap eats for his $20 Diner column after visiting 100 restaurants over the past year.

Here's how he extolled it: "With so many choice burgers available in Washington, you might wonder what makes these whoppers worth a trip to Leesburg. Let me spell it out: The half-pound burgers are a blend of freshly ground short rib, brisket and chuck cuts, each patty slipped into a house-made sourdough bun and topped with your choice of decadent spreads, cheeses and garnishes.

"Each burger is piled so high it must be held in place with a skewer, lest this monument to indulgence topple under the weight of its own ambition."

Previously, the Post has included Melt on its "The 40 most essential D.C. restaurant dishes of 2017" list, and published an adoring review with the headline: "Melt Gourmet Cheeseburgers: Where the food lives up to the name."
