After Joy Behar was conspicuously absent from the past two episodes of ABC daytime talk show The View, we finally got some answers as to where she’s been. Sort of. Though the longtime host did not show up on today’s episode for the third day in a row, Whoopi Goldeberg kicked off the hour by welcoming guest hosts Alyssa Farah Griffin, Juju Chang, and Chelsea Clinton alongside panel regular Sunny Hostin, while also explaining the absences of their usual co-hosts Behar and Sara Haines

“Sara’s still out with COVID. Joy does not have COVID,” Goldberg said. “She’s getting over something else, the flu, or maybe she’s pregnant, I don’t know.”

While it’s pretty unlikely (bar some Biblical-style divine intervention) that the 79 year old Behar is out due to anything pregnancy related, we at least now have some answers as to where she’s been, or at least some verbal confirmation that she’s missing, something that the show has been negligent about this week. We of course hope that both Behar and Haines make swift recoveries so that they can return to the show soon.

With Behar and Haines out, the hosts missed out on talks with former Arizona congresswoman Gabby Giffords, who was on the show with filmmaker Julie Cohen to promote their documentary Gabby Giffords Won’t Back Down, as well as award-winning filmmaker Tonya Lewis Lee, who was on today’s episode to promote her own recent documentary entitled Aftershock.

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
