Norm Spencer, The Cyclops Voice Actor Has Passed Away

The man who yelled "Optic Blast!" in numerous arcade games and voiced Cyclops on the X-Men animated series has died.

The man known for voicing the iconic phrase "Optic Blast" in the X-Men fighting games, Norm Spencer, has sadly passed away. The news was revealed by Cal Dodd, who worked with Spencer on various projects throughout the '90s. Dodd is known for voicing Canada's premiere superhero Wolverine.

Spencer's shout of "Optic blast" was Cyclops' calling card in X-Men: Children of the Atom, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, and Marvel vs. Capcom 2. In addition, Spencer voiced Cyclops for 68 episodes X-Men: The Animated Series and two episodes on Spider-Man: The Animated Series. His career of being the mouth of Cyclops throughout various video games and TV shows lasted from 1992-2000. He also appeared in 1998's Silver Surfer animated show as Drax the Destroyer for three episodes.
