Graham aide dismisses claim senator ‘threw Trump under the bus’ in testimony: ‘Total BS’

An aide for Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) disputed a report that the senator “threw” former President Trump “under the bus” in testimony to a grand jury in the Georgia election fraud case.

“Senator Graham never spoke with the authors and what they are selling is pretty much total and complete BS,” Kevin Bishop, Graham’s communications director, said. “At the end of the day, this is all just trash for left wing cash. Senator Graham has no problem with his testimony being made public, and he is not scheduled to be a witness in the trial.”

The anecdote, first reported by Politico, comes from the book “Find Me the Votes” by Michael Isikoff and Daniel Klaidman, which goes on sale Jan. 30. Graham reportedly “turned on a dime” and “threw Trump under the bus” in his testimony, per a source familiar with it.

Isikoff posted a photo of a part of the book on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, that discussed the testimony further. According to the post, after Graham finished his testimony and left the grand jury room, he said that the testimony was “cathartic” and hugged Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D).

Graham has been a strong public supporter of the former president. Last month, he pushed back against warnings from former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) about a second Trump presidency and the country “sleepwalking into dictatorship.”

“I think a continuation of the Biden presidency would be a disaster for peace and prosperity at home and abroad,” Graham said. “Our border is broken. The only person who is really going to fix a broken border is Donald Trump. When he was president, none of this stuff was going on in Ukraine. Hamas and all these other terrorist groups were afraid of Trump.”

“I think Liz’s s hatred of Trump is real,” he added.

The Hill has reached out to Grand Central Publishing, the publisher of the book.
