What is easier to understand: NFL catch rule or rocket science?

Another NFL week, another game where the league demonstrates it has no idea what a catch is. A seemingly obvious grab that would have won the game for the Pittsburgh Steelers over the New England Patriots in an important AFC matchup was ruled incomplete. Many are making the catch rule a lot more difficult than it has to be. Still, it seems that the NFL is hamstrung by a complicated definition of what a catch is that rocket science seems simpler. What do you think?

PERSPECTIVES

Was this a catch? Everyone in the world thinks it is except the NFL.

Everyone is whining about what a catch is, and what a catch is not. It's all in the rulebook and pretty simple to understand. You must have total control of the ball until you become a runner. And if you are going to the ground, you must maintain control through the ground. That means even if you have control in the air, you best keep that ball safe until you hit the ground.

Jesse James took a risk stretching for the end zone before he officially became a runner or hit the ground. Don't blame the rule because he didn't bother to read the very simple explanation in the rulebook.

Say what you will about physics and rocket science, at least most of it is based on fact. All in all, rocket science is actually pretty simple: If the greatest amount of thrust is put on an object in the shortest amount of time, it will launch. That is guaranteed. There is no room for interpretation. There's no one saying, "well, the object has to be an apple" or "the thurst has to be provided by a clown."

Rocket science is just rocket science. There is no questioning it like there is a catch in the NFL.
