The 94th Academy Awards ceremony has come to a close – and it was a doozy.
Last night, the best and brightest of Hollywood gathered on the red carpet for the movie event of the year.
History was made on several occasions, as Ariana DeBose became the first openly gay woman to win in the acting categories, while Troy Kotsur became the second deaf actor to win, following his Coda co-star Marlee Matlin.
Speaking of Coda, the poignant movie, which follows a deaf family trying to keep its fishing business afloat, was awarded Best Picture. It became the first movie on a streaming service to win the prestigious award.
But the moment that everyone is talking about is when Will Smith smacked Oscar presenter Chris Rock over a after he made a joke about wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s buzz cut.
Smith, who won Best Actor later in the evening, stormed onto the stage and slapped Rock across the face for calling her ‘GI Jane 2’ – his wife has been open about her alopecia condition.

What did Will say?

As the coverage went out uncensored on UK (we believe it was bleeped in the US), here's what Will Smith actually said after jumping up on stage to punch Chris Rock.
Referring to Jada's buzzcut, Chris said: 'Jada, can’t wait for GI Jane 2.'
Will walked up on stage and appeared to hit Rock before returning to his seat and shouting: 'Keep my wife’s name out of your f****** mouth.'
Rock appeared shocked and flustered as he tried to resume presenting the best documentary feature category.
He said: 'That was the greatest night in the history of television.'
Did Will Smith genuinely just hit Chris Rock?!
After Chris Rock made various jokes about Will's wife Jada Pinkett Smith, Will headed to the stage, punching the comedian.
Screaming at Chris, Will told him to 'keep her name out of your f**king mouth.'
Understandably, viewers are bewildered.
