“Cats” star James Corden says he still hasn’t seen the widely panned box office flop — but has heard “it’s terrible.”
The English comedian, who plays Bustopher Jones in Tom Hooper’s adaptation of the Andrew Lloyd Webber classic, made the admission in a BBC Radio interview Monday, the UK Independent reported.
“I haven’t seen it, but I’ve heard it’s terrible,” Corden told host Zoe Ball.
Ball responded: “The reviews have been a bit harsh.”
“My mate Rhys, his wife and two or three went to see it and quite genuinely loved it. And I’m not just saying that because you’re here,” said Corden’s “Gavin & Stacey” co-star Rob Brydon, who was also on the show, per the Huffington Post.
Corden responded: “That has always been the musical ‘Cats.’ I’ll catch it one day, I imagine.”
The film, which cost $100 million to produce, raked in just $6.5 million during its opening weekend and was greeted by savage reviews.
The studio announced it will send an updated version of the flick to theaters with with “improved visual effects.”
