WARNING - Rain, sleet and snow to batter NI tomorrow morning in ‘rush hour blizzard’

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for rain sleet and snow which could pose a particular danger for Northern Ireland during Monday morning rush hour.

A spokesman told the News Letter that the yellow warning is in force for 12 hours from midnight Sunday to midday Monday.

“The main reason driving the weather warning is the risk during the Monday morning rush house,” he said.

“The commute could be a tricky one with a strong mixture of rain, sleet and now affecting visibility. Drivers are advised to leave more time for their journey, slow down, leave more room between the vheicle in front and to drive with their lights on.”

Between 10-20mm of rain is expected in the period while ground that is 100m high or especially over 200m, is likely to see significant snow, higher ground expected to see one to five cm.
