Palm Beach Central’s Bryan Robinson scored two touchdowns receiving and one rushing to lead the host Broncos to a 42-13 victory on Thursday night against the Jupiter Warriors.
A stingy and ball-hawking Bronco defense was just as dominant, as it held Jupiter to fewer than 100 yards.
Palm Beach Central coach Scottie Littles was delighted with his team’s defensive performance.
“Our defense played well tonight. They played fast. It was great team defense,” said Littles.
The Broncos (6-2) struck early, scoring on their first two possessions. After the opening kickoff, the Broncos marched 45 yards in four plays for a touchdown. The drive was capped by a 4-yard run by Jordan Kolnick. After forcing a Warriors (5-3) punt, Central struck again, quickly. Bronco quarterback Anarjahe Douriet connected with Robinson on a 59-yard scoring pass at the 7:25 mark of the first. After a series of punts by both teams, Central jumped ahead 21-0 when Robinson scored on his own 4-yard run, which capped a five-play, 42-yard drive.
The Warriors finally scored in the closing seconds of the first half, when Warriors quarterback Jonathan Mosley scored on a 3-yard keeper.
The third quarter was dominated by the Central defense, as the Broncos grabbed a pair of interceptions – both resulting in Central touchdowns. On the third play of the quarter, Central’s Keyshaun Widner had a pick-six, returning it for a TD from Central’s 30 yard-line. At the 6:06 mark, Central’s Cedric Johnson picked off another Mosley pass. Two plays later, Douriet threw a 20-yard TD pass to Robinson, giving Central an insurmountable 35-6 lead at the 5:16 mark of the third.
Central’s final score was 54-yard TD pass from Bronco backup quarterback Ahmad Haston to Johnson with 6:57 left in the contest.
The Warriors scored their only second-half TD on another quarterback keeper by Mosley. He scored from a yard out with 7:51 left in the game.
