Oregon State Police

Oregon State Police closed about 90 miles of Interstate 84 on Friday because of strong winds.

The windy stretch of highway from just east of Pendleton to Baker City was shut down for several hours Friday and later reopened.

Just inside that stretch of eastern Oregon, at milepost 223, a semi-truck was blown over onto its side across the narrow highway.

No one was injured and the truck was largely on its own. But no other causes were listed as factors in the crash other than the gusts, according to Oregon State Police.

The winds in that area were estimated to be 90 mph.

The wind also knocked out power in large swaths of Oregon and Washington.
