BOWIE, MD — A Maryland singer's time on "The Voice" came to an end Tuesday. Bowie woman Tamara Jade did not advance to the final five of the NBC singing competition, but she made it as far as the top nine.

Jade performed "Let It Be" by the Beatles on Monday evening. She then waited for viewers to cast their ballots overnight.

The top vote-getter from each of the four teams secured a guaranteed spot in the final. Jade, who is coached by R&B singer John Legend, did not win her team's slot.

John Holiday got the nod instead, putting Jade at-risk for elimination. She still had one more shot though.

After the four guaranteed finalists were announced, the five singers on the hot seat competed for an instant save. Each contestant performed one song, and America voted right away. Whoever got the most votes within those few minutes earned a spot in the final.

Jade unleashed her rendition of "Feeling Good" by Nina Simone, but she came up short. Ian Flanigan, a member of Team Blake Shelton, won the last spot, sending Jade home. Flanigan and Holiday will compete against Carter Rubin (Team Gwen Stefani), Desz (Team Kelly Clarkson) and Jim Ranger (Team Blake Shelton) in next week's finale.

"Whether you came along on this journey when I was making mixtapes ... or you came here for this, thank you for letting me be myself," Jade said before her elimination. "Thank you. Thank you. Thank you."

Legend, who Jade calls "Uncle John," had nothing but praise for the Maryland native. He applauded Jade's power and soulfulness, adding that it was a pleasure to work with her.

"I love how your personality shines through everything you do," Legend said. "It is just so engrossing, so engaging for us to watch you be yourself on this stage."

Jade expressed her admiration for Legend. She said his song "So High" was the first she ever learned to sing and play. Jade thanked Legend for all he means to the world.

"I appreciate you so much being who you are, being a positive role model for Black men and for everybody," she said. "I appreciate your character, your influence."

Jade first caught attention during her audition, which aired on Oct. 19. That performance drew interest from all four judges. The video of her tryout has amassed more than 1.8 million views on YouTube.

The winner of "The Voice" will take home $100,000 and earn a recording contract with Universal Music Group.

The season 19 finale airs on NBC next Monday from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. The results come out the next evening from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. The show is also available on Hulu and NBC's website.
