BROOKLYN, Ohio — Josiah and Gideon Trank have always loved the police officers who protect them. So when they learned Cleveland police officer David Muniz was battling cancer, they knew they had to help.

They decided to open a hot chocolate stand Monday to help raise money for Muniz’s medical expenses. The stand, located near 6800 Vandalia Avenue, opened at 11 a.m. and stayed open until sunset.

A cup of hot chocolate was $1 but was free to police officers, firefighters and soldiers. Hugs are free for anyone who visits. As of 3:30 p.m. the brothers had approximately 10 visitors.

Reporter Hannah Drown broadcasted live video on cleveland.com’s Facebook page to show the stand and speak with the boys.
