Lafayette Planning Commission will discuss and potentially vote on a mixed-use development on Tuesday.

The potential project could be housed on Baseline Road and Cornelius Street, formerly known as Circle Motel.

The staff report states the project could house a 13-unit, six building mixed-use development with four apartment buildings in duplex and triplex configurations, one live/work building and one two-story commercial 2,500 square-foot building.

The site has been incorporated as part of the city since 1887, according to the staff report.

In the 1960s the property was named the Circle Motel, and in 1972 it became rental housing.

In June 2016, the previous owner went before the Historic Preservation Board to request a demolition permit for the site.

In September 2017, Lafayette officials denied a forced landmarking bid, which cleared the path for the property’s redevelopment.
