JBL Unveils An Avalanche Of New Audio Products At CES 2024

Following

CES wouldn’t be CES without a mega announcement from top-dog audio brand JBL. This year’s show is no exception. However, rather than stuff endless products into a post, I’ve picked out some of the new product highlights from JBL, and you can see the entire range of new models by visiting the JBL website.

Highlights include more affordable earbuds with JBL’s innovative Smart Charging Case. The new range of JBL wireless speakers now features replaceable rechargeable batteries. This development is long overdue in the consumer electronics market. Replaceable batteries mean products can have an extended life and don’t need to be thrown away when the battery is no longer functioning efficiently.

Finally, sustainability is a feature of all the new launches with increased use of post-consumer recycled plastic and FSC paper packaging. Like many other brands in the fast-moving consumer electronics sector, JBL is trying to ensure its products have a lower impact on the planet when possible.

JBL Adds Smart Charging Case To Its Live TWS 3 Earbuds

Following the launch of its Tour Pro 2 earbuds, JBL has brought its innovative Smart Charging Case technology to the JBL Live TWS 3 series, including Buds, Beam and Flex wearing styles.

The latest version of JBL’s Smart Charging Case offers control of features and functions without connecting to a smartphone app. The Live series Smart Charging Case has a 1.45-inch LED touch display for changing settings. In addition, the earbuds have adaptive noise cancelling to shut out unwanted sounds in busy places like airports and railway stations.

The JBL Live TWS 3 series includes an Ear Canal Test, which ensures the wearer has the correct size of ear tip installed so they can experience the optimum sound quality for the shape of their ear. Three different wearing styles are available in the series: Buds, Beam and Flex, and they have an IP55 waterproof rating.

All three variants support hi-res audio wirelessly and offer JBL’s big Signature Sound. The products use the latest Bluetooth 5.3 with LE, including multipoint connectivity and extended battery life. The JBL Live TWS 3 series will be available in four new colorways: purple, blue, silver and black.

Pricing and availability: The JBL Live TWS 3 series will be available from JBL.com for $199.95 / £179.99 / €199.99 from mid-June 2024.

JBL Unveils The Next Generation PartyBox Lineup

CES 2024 has also seen the introduction of the JBL PartyBox Club 120, JBL PartyBox Stage 320 and JBL PartyBox Wireless Mic. The new generation of party speakers offers extended playtimes, immersive lighting and replaceable batteries.

Featuring JBL Original Pro Sound, the JBL PartyBox Club 120 claims a more powerful sound, deeper bass and a dynamic light show of starry lights, light trails and strobe light effects that can be synced to music. If 12 hours of playtime isn’t enough, there is a user-replaceable battery to keep the fun going, while two mic inputs and a guitar input can help unleash musical creativity.

The new JBL PartyBox Stage 320 has two high-sensitivity woofers and dual tweeters. A telescopic handle and wide wheels enable the speaker to be taken almost anywhere. Other features include a multi-dimensional light show and 18 hours of playtime, which can be doubled with a swappable battery.

For use with the two new PartyBox speakers, JBL has made the plug-and-play PartyBox Wireless Mic. Two mics are in each pack, making it the ideal product for duetting. The microphone has a cardioid pattern pickup and a shock-mount system to reduce handling noise. The mic has a rechargeable battery with up to 20 hours of playtime.

Pricing and availability: The new JBL PartyBox lineup will be available on JBL.com from April 2024. The JBL PartyBox Stage 120 costs $399.95 / £349.99 / €399,99. JBL PartyBox Club 320 is $599.95 / £549.99 / €599.99, while JBL PartyBox Wireless Mics are priced at $149.95 / £119.99 / €129.99.

JBL Launches Its First Auracast-Enabled Portable Speakers

CES 2024 also saw JBL unveiling changes to its popular portable audio lineup with upgrades for JBL Xtreme 4, JBL Clip 5 and JBL Go 4. Auracast will now be available on all JBL portables, unlocking unlimited connectivity options for stereo or multi-speaker pairing across different speaker models.

The JBL Xtreme 4 and JBL Clip 5 now use 70% post-consumer recycled, which rises to 80% for the JBL Go 4. All speakers use 100% PCR fabric for the speaker grille. These latest portable speakers come in a range of colorways.

The new JBL Xtreme 4 has been enhanced with AI Sound Boost, which analyses audio in real-time using an AI algorithm to optimize the acoustic output level, which, according to JBL, produces a more robust sound with lower distortion.

The new speaker has two woofers, two powerful drivers and dual bass radiators for more bottom end to underpin the treble detail. The JBL Xtreme 4 can play for up to 24 hours on a single charge and includes a power bank feature for charging a smartphone. The battery is replaceable, and all JBL’s new speakers use Bluetooth v5.3 with LE audio capabilities, IP67 waterproof and dustproof rating and multi-speaker connection using Auracast.

Pricing and availability: The new speakers will be available on JBL.com. The JBL Xtreme 4 costs $379.95 / £329.99/€349,99, the JBL Clip 5 $79.95 / £59.99 / €69,99, while the JBL Go 4 sells for $49.95 / £39.99 / €49,99. All the new speakers will be available from mid-March.
