An explosion in the French city of Lyon left at least seven injured and prompted a national terrorism investigation and search for the perpetrator.
The early evening blast hit the city’s central shopping district.
French President Emmanuel Macron described the explosion as “an attack.”
A spokeswoman for the city prosecutor told CNN that the bomb may have been packed with nails.
France’s National Police tweeted a photo of the man they believed to be “the author of the attack,” and called on the public to come forward with any information.
Macron tweeted later Friday, “Tonight I think of the wounded in the explosion in Lyon, their families affected by the violence that has befallen their loved ones in the street, and all of Lyon. We are by your side.”
