Instagram to test hiding ‘like’ counts on some US accounts

There will soon be less to “Like” on Instagram.

CEO Adam Mosseri says the platform will start hiding “Like” counts in some US accounts starting next week, Wired reports.

Instagram has already tested hiding “like” counts in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Ireland, Italy and Brazil, the report said.

Users will know they’re part of the test when their “like” counts vanish from view.

The company is testing whether lessening the competition for approval — and the incentive for extreme, click-baity posts — will make for healthier, happier users.
