If duct-taped food is the latest art craze, the Tampa Police Department has hit the sweet spot.
The Florida police department is peddling a doughnut duct-taped to a white wall for $200,000 — a spoof on the now infamous duct-taped banana that fetched a mind-blowing $120,000 at Art Basel Miami Beach.
The department’s “one-of-a-kind” piece is dubbed “Sgt. Donut” and cops say they’re taking bids on the delicious display starting at an affordable $10.
“ATTENTION,” the department wrote in a post on Facebook Monday. “Tampa’s finest piece of art work is on display at TPD. The cities most elite artist, Chief Brian Dugan, created this one of a kind piece, ‘Sgt. Donut.’”
The police department tagged a slew of fellow Florida police department’s in the post as well as the city of Tampa.
“Bidding starts at $10! Ten dollars, twenty dollars do we hear $30?!?” the department quipped.
The Tampa Police Department wasn’t the only one to poke fun at the notorious banana artwork.
Tampa International Airport posted a photo of a banana affixed to a TPA sign with duct-tape on Monday, tweeting “Bidding starts at $120K.”
The original Art Basel banana titled, “Comedian,” made waves last week when a French collector purchased it for $120,000 – and then again when New York-based performance artist David Datuna devoured the pricey piece of fruit in public.
