BIRMINGHAM, AL β€” Want a little more legroom on your flight, or perhaps an empty seat next to you to stretch out? The chances of finding that without an upgrade to first class is rare, but flying out of Birmingham-Shittlesworth International Airport could decrease the chances of having a crowded flight.

A recent study by Lending Tree shows BHM among the airports with the least crowded flights in the country.

Birmingham ranks as the no. 7 airport in the United States with the least crowded flights. In 2018, 1,950,876 seats were available on flights departing from Birmingham and 1,502,120 seats were occupied. That means that BHM had an occupancy rate of 77 percent.
