Fatal Route 44 Crash: State Police
An East Taunton man is dead after being struck while in the breakdown lane, police said.
CARVER, MA — A 31-year-old East Taunton man is dead after a crash early Monday morning on Route 44, police said.
State Police responded to the crash on Route 44 in Carver around 12:35 a.m. A 23-year-old Monponsett man was driving westbound in a 2001 Mitsubishi Gallant when it struck a 1998 Saturn SL2, which was stopped in the breakdown lane, and the operator, who was outside his vehicle, police said.
The Monponsett man was uninjured. The victim has not been identified.
